There have been some incredible guests at cryptocurrency conferences as new projects make new connections. Notably, Ripple’s 2018 Swell conference featured former president Bill Clinton, who spoke on the potential of blockchain technology. Not to be outdone, it appears as though the upcoming Tron (TRX) conference – entitled the NiTRON Summit – will feature basketball player Kobe Bryant as a special guest in January 2019
This isn’t the first time that basketball and cryptocurrency have intertwined. Antpool, one of the world’s largest crypto mining companies, recently partnered with the Houston Rockets.
In addition, Brooklyn Nets player Spencer Dinwiddie has been open about the fact that he not only invested but also traded cryptocurrency regularly, mentioning that he utilized stop losses when his trading interfered with basketball practice.
This will be the first NiTRON Summit, and it hopes to be a forum for those in the industry to network and explore new ways that blockchain technology can be applied. It is unclear whether this will be the case with Mr. Bryant, who will reportedly share his “thoughts and life experiences” with attendees.
Bryant also might do some networking of his own, considering that he has a venture fund by the name of Bryant Stibel. He spoke about starting his fund with the Wall Street Journal in 2016:
The founder of Tron, Justin Sun, included this fact in a statement.

He said: “It’s my great honor to have Kobe as our special guest for the niTRON Summit. It’s worth mentioning that Kobe Bryant is not only a basketball genius but also an investment genius.”
